When the teacher of my two kids told me that all kids in Year 4 have to go through a times table government exam and I was told that the exam was going to be through a computer system I easily realised that without help, they would never perform as well as they could.
Performance in exams is about two things: Knowledge about the matter and Knowledge about the format. I decided that I was going to help with both.
I created this app for my twins and after seeing how well they improved and how much fun they had with it, I wanted to share this with everyone else. My son went from 11 out of 25 to 25 in few weeks; my daughter managed to went up to 22 from a weak start of 8 during that time and the day I decided to submit this app to the Appstore she made it to 25. But this is not just about performing, it is about fun too; they were asking me every day "Daddy, Can I do the times tables in your app?"
This app keeps things simple, just one thing at a time. When the test is done, it analyses the answers and offers the child the opportunity to review the one times table that was the most difficult for the kid.
It also exposes kids to a format very similar to the real test, so they work on that part too.
10 minutes a day and 3 to 4 days a week, thats all it takes. Ah, and remember to encourage the kid the memorise the times table that the app suggests after doing the test before trying again!
I hope your kids have as much fun and improve as well as mine.
